Name John PARKER Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 20 Jul 1609 Gender Male Memorial St. James’ Church, Norton, Derbyshire, England Brass - According to "Notes on the Churches of Derbyshire", Cox, John Charles (1843-1919), pub. 1875-9, p.297-8, who, although writing in the late C19th also records information about memorials in the church when one Bassano visited and made notes in c. 1710:
"There were then [c. 1710] two stones in the south aisle, on which there had been portraitures in brass. One of these ... . The other brass had the portraits of John Parker, of Norton Lees, and his wife. Thomas Parker settled at Norton Lees, as early as the reign of Richard II., [1377-1399] by marriage with the heiress of Gotham, and John Parker was the last of his direct male descendants, and died in the reign of Charles I. Anne, the daughter and heiress of John Parker, brought the estate to Francis Barker."
