  	Recorded in the censuses and when his son George married. Also when his daughter Eliza was baptised although this was after his death. Strangely he was recorded as a higgler when his daughter Ann (b. 1849) was baptised.

  	In the 1851 census but his wife a widow by 1861 Living in Penkhull, in Stoke on Trent RD, in 1851, his widow still there in 1861 so most likely that is where he died. The deaths of six of John Keelings were registered in the RD between 1851 and 1861. The GRO online index shows 3 of these were babies (aged 0), and one in 1861 was aged 31. That leaves just two, both of whom died in q1 1857. The age of one was given as 54, suggesting a birth about 1802, the age of the other as 49, suggesting born about 1807, and so most likely this one: GRO ref: KEELING, John q1 1857 Stoke on T RD 6b 106; GRO online index shows age at death as 49 (there were other deaths of John Keelings in nearby parts of Staffordshire, in particular 4 in Wolstanton RD, but 3 of these were babies and the other aged 88 so they too can be ruled out)
