Name Sarah KNOWLING Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Est 1605 - Date estimate based on date of marriage and bapt of children
Baptised - Not yet found; see research notes for why I believe she was the brother of George (and hence daughter of Stephen).
Gender Female Buried Aft 1652 - Sarah's brother Stephen writes about his sister in the present tense in a Court of Chancery case in 1652 so I believe she was still living then.
Not found burial, but there are some years for which the burial registers for Blackawton are in a very poor state.
Siblings 3 brothers and 2 sisters Patriarch & Matriarch Stephen KNOWLING, b. Est 1580, d. Between 1632 and 1638 (Age ~ 52 years) (Father)Notes - (Research):Since writing the following, I have found the Court of Chancery case which Stephen Knowlinge brought against William Wotton in 1652, describing William's wife as his sister. (I believe the Stpehen Knowling is the one baptized in 1616). Thus the link being as I have it now seems pretty conclusive.
Here is how I reached this conclusion before discovering this:
If the description of George Knowling as uncle and his wife as aunt of William's brother Walter is accurate, then either George or Joanna must have been brother or sister of William Wotton or his wife.
George being a Knowling is very unlikely to have been the full brother of William, though there is always the possibility he was half brother. Follett wills show Joanna was born a Follett, so cannot have been William's full sister. Moreover, the will of her grandfather written in 1645 seems to be pretty comprehensive when it comes to his children / grandchildren and there is no mention of a Sarah (or any other) Wotton. I therefore believe the link was almost certainly on George's side.
The most straightforward would be if William's wife was a Knowling, the sister of George, and having decided this I then discovered this marriage of a William to a Sarah Knowling - a perfect fit.
In addition, that would then make Cassandra Knowling her sister, one of whose sons was William Eakins, who seems to have been referred to by Sarah's son William in his will as a cousin.

Father Stephen KNOWLING, b. Est 1580, d. Between 1632 and 1638 (Age ~ 52 years) Married - Children from this marriage:
I have gone thro St Saviour's PR for baptisms Oct 1604 - Jan 1616-7, only extra found (over using FMP search) was son Stephen.
Still to find: Sarah and Mary - and possibly others
Maybe born elsewhere before Stephen and his wife moved to Dartmouth St Saviours? Could simply be another Dartmouth parish; St Clement's and St Petrox' PRs don't survive from this time.
