Charley Hambling with his brother - and who?
Judging from their ages I guess this was taken in the mid-1890s or later - since this photo was taken in Ealing I guess it was taken before the Hambling family returned to Devon by 1901.
Who was the soldier? A relation or just a friend?
Although both the parents of James and Charles Hambling were from Devon, they did have some relations in London. Several offspring of their grandmother's cousin William Kellond were living in Paddington at the same time as James and Charles and they had some 3rd cousins of a similar age. Were they in touch? Friends?
