Thwaight QUAIF
Set As Default Person -
Name Thwaight QUAIF Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 13 Mar 1757 All Saints’ Church, Whitstable, Kent, England
- From the PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 2 Feb 2013):
"Thwaight(?s), Son of Stephen Quaif Clerk of Parish and Elizabeth his Wife Baptized March the 13"
(I'm not sure if there is an s at the end of Thwaight or if it is part of the t - suspect the latter as similar t in Stephen)
Gender Male Died Yes, date unknown
Siblings2 brothers and 3 sisters Patriarch & Matriarch
Stephen QUAIF, b. Est 1717, bur. 24 Oct 1790, St. Alphege’s Church, Seasalter, Kent, England
(Age ~ 73 years) (Father)
Jane STANES, b. Est 1698, bur. 3 Nov 1752, All Saints’ Church, Whitstable, Kent, England
(Age ~ 54 years) (Grandmother)
Notes - I guess the unusual Christian name is a case of a family surname being used - more often spelt Thwaite.
Thwaight(s) was not the first, though, to have the name as in 1675 a "Thayts Quaife" was buried in Seasalter. (Like Thwaight(s) father, Thayts was a Parish Clerk)

Father Stephen QUAIF, b. Est 1717, bur. 24 Oct 1790, St. Alphege’s Church, Seasalter, Kent, England
(Age ~ 73 years) Mother Elizabeth GOATHAM, bap. 25 Jun 1721, St. John the Baptist Church, Swalecliffe, Kent, England
, bur. 12 Oct 1763, St. Alphege’s Church, Seasalter, Kent, England
(Age ~ 42 years) Married 4 Oct 1743 St. Alphege’s Church, Seasalter, Kent, England
- From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 2 Feb 2013):
"Stephen Quaif and Eliz. Goatham were married by Banns Oct-4-1743"
(Stephen could have married the Elizabeth bapt in 1725, but an Elizabeth "of Whitstable" also marr in 1741 (to Wm Webb), and the burial of a son of that marriage gives the Goatham grandfather's name - it was Michael, not George, so it seems it was this Elizabeth who married Stephen.)
FMP images jump from Feb 1747-8 at bottom of a right hand page to 14 May 1749 at top of a left page i.e. nothing for 15 months? - possible, but I wonder if 2 pages were turned at once
Burials - gap in PRs from 1669 to 1763
