  • Name William TAPNER
    Relationshipwith Teresa Ann GOATHAM
    Born Est 1650
    • Guess based on likely age at marriage (and on guessed approximate marriage date)

I am also ** only guessing ** that William might have been a son of William and Elizabeth, brother of Anthony.
Guess is based not just on date but also on places - Anthony was baptised in Houghton, where William junior's son Henry married, and was buried in Aldingbourne, where William junior's sons William and Henry both lived.
    Gender Male
Occupation 1697  Merston, Sussex, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location  [1
    Husbandman
    • William appears to have been farming 62 acres: 50 acres of land, 2 acres of meadow and 10 acres of pasture.
Merston is close to Aldingbourne and I am guessing it was this William who was farming here.
Died 1712  Merston, Sussex, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • (assumed from burial)
Buried 8 Mar 1711/12  St. Giles’ Church, Merston, Sussex, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location  [2
    • Although his 3 sons were bapt Houghton there are no Tapner burials there (but 2 Tuppers - no Wm, but could be relatives)

I think it likely that the burial is this William, and that his son William may then have taken over the land he was farming, and hence his first child was baptised in Merston.
However, this Wm may have died in Aldingbourne in 1726 (the burial currently assigned to his son Wm)
    Siblings 1 brother

    Notes
    • (Research):An Elizabeth TAPNER married in Merston in 1714. Probably a close relation of this William. Maybe a dau I haven't discovered, or the remarriage of a 2nd wife (again, who I haven't discovered)
