  	The 1861 and 1871 censuses show that Edward James' father, also Edward was an engine man, more specifically in 1861 he was described as a "copper mine engine worker". It was probably for an engine used for mining that Edward junr. was a driver. West Wheal Fortune mine was in Ludgvan, worked from 1815 to 1891, so it may be here that Edward was working and shortly after the census he may have had to find other work.

  Notes	Two births of an Edward J Rodda are in the BMD index (on FreeBMD) which could be this one, both in Cornwall. One died before the marriage, leaving only this one. In addition, the death in Devonport which suggests this one is the right age. He had previously married in Penzance RD in 1884 (no attempt has been made to trace this line / family)

  	GRO ref: Justham, Florence R to Rodda, Edward J q3 1921 Devonport RD 5b 808 If I am right and the Florence who married was this one, she was unusually old to be marrying for the first time - especially soon after WW1 when there was a surplus of eligible young spinsters and widows. But the FreeBMD index does not have the birth of another Florence (1871 on) or the marriage of a Justham to a Florence (1871 - 1920), so unless I have missed one due to a mis-transcription it would seem to be this one. Also, the only death found of a Florence R Rodda was of the age of this Florence which seems to confirm it. It would seem likely that with all her sisters married Florence was looking after her mother until the latter's death in 1918.
