      "HEXT - On Jan. 6. at Hr Manor Farm, Ringmore, the residence of his son, Thomas Gardener, the beloved husband of the late Ellen Came, late of Holwell Farm, Bigbury aged 87 years. Friends please accept this (the only) intimation. Funeral Bigbury Church at Two p.m. Tuesday Jan 11"

      He left £200 to his daughter Elizabeth, small bequests, and the residue to his wife for life; and then to his children Hilda, Thomas and Harry, and grand-daughter Marjorie."
