Paul DE FARVAQUES
Set As Default Person -
Name Paul DE FARVAQUES Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Est 1590 - Date estimated from date of marriage
Gender Male Miscellaneous 12 Jan 1623/24 [1] Helped draw up marriage contract for Rachelle du Rié - In 1623/4 Paul helped with the marriage contract for his sister-in-law, Rachelle, who was to marry Michiee Houzee.
Miscellaneous 24 Feb 1624/25 [1] Helped draw up marriage contract for Andrieu du Rié - In 1624/5 Paul helped with the marriage contract for his brother-in-law, Andrieu, a widower, with Andrieu's other sister's husband, Michiel Houze, and Phillippe Haigneree. A Phillippe Haigneree had helped with his own marriage contract and that of his sister-in-law Rachelle, on each occasion being described as uncle, but now as brother in law - I suspect a mistake by Hovenden (else why not list him with the other brothers-in-law), but it could be a different Phillippe. Andrieu was to marry widow Jeanne Acart (French-style i.e. was her maiden name).
Died 26 Apr 1670 Canterbury, Kent, England
[2] - Clearly still living when his brother Nicholas wrote his will on 1 June 1667
Siblings2 brothers and 1 sister
Half-siblings1 half sister (family of Francois GODEFROY and Francoyse BAQUELÉ) Patriarch & Matriarch
Notes - Possibly a deacon of the Walloon Church in Canterbury, but I think this was more likely his nephew with the same name, son of his brother Nicholas (qv for more details)

Family 1 Lea DU RIEZ, d. 23 Nov 1632, Canterbury, Kent, England
Married 1618 - Married at the Walloon Church in Canterbury? - the marriage contract is there but no record of the marriage.
When Paul remarried in Jan 1636/7 there was a mention of the 3 children of his marriage to Lea; presumably that means 3 had died, i.e. one other besides the infant Lea and the first Marie.
A child of Paul's died in September 1637, and another a few weeks later.
To what age was the term 'enfant' used i.e. are these the deaths of children of Paul and Lea (I suspect they are), or had Paul had other children (a wife between Lea and Rose?) that I have not yet found?
Sept. 30 Un enfant a Paul DE FARUAQUES.
Oct. 23 Un enfant a Paul DESFERVAQS.
There appears to have been an outbreak of plague in Canterbury in 1637, with a particularly large number of burials in July and August (including Paul's brother Samuel); numbers were still quite high in September and October - this is one of 4 deaths recorded on October 23.
Given that Jeanne died in 1639, it would seem that none of the children of this marriage reached adulthood. [3, 4]
