    Gender Male
church From 1752 to 1756  All Saints’ Church, Whitstable, Kent, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    Parish Clerk
    • Described as Clerk when his children were baptised; I believe he was the "Parish Clerk" rather than a "Clerk in Holy Orders". All the PR entries around this time are signed off by Tho. Patten, Curate, and Stephen can be found witnessing marriages from 1757 - 1786. He doesn't appear to have died in 1786 though (or if he did, he wasn't buried in Whitstable) - maybe he left the town to live with a child in his old age.
Buried 24 Oct 1790  St. Alphege’s Church, Seasalter, Kent, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 2 Feb 2013):
"Octr. 24. Buried my old Clerk, Stephen Quaif" (I think this is probably written by C(?) E Plater, Vicar)
    Notes
    • (Research):Too early to be Stephen's father, but in 1675 a Thayts Quaife was buried in Seasalter: "May 2 Thayts Quaife housholder Clerke of this p[ari]sh. Buried."

Married 4 Oct 1743  St. Alphege’s Church, Seasalter, Kent, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 2 Feb 2013):
"Stephen Quaif and Eliz. Goatham were married by Banns Oct-4-1743"
(Stephen could have married the Elizabeth bapt in 1725, but an Elizabeth "of Whitstable" also marr in 1741 (to Wm Webb), and the burial of a son of that marriage gives the Goatham grandfather's name - it was Michael, not George, so it seems it was this Elizabeth who married Stephen.)

FMP images jump from Feb 1747-8 at bottom of a right hand page to 14 May 1749 at top of a left page i.e. nothing for 15 months? - possible, but I wonder if 2 pages were turned at once

Burials - gap in PRs from 1669 to 1763
    Children 6 children
