    Notes
    • With her parents in 1841; with her parents and dau, 1851
    • (Research):No sign of Harriet as a Rose in a census after 1861, no sign of her death, so it seems likely the marriage as shown was hers. No sign of George and Harriet together in a census after this, so I think the death as shown is hers, and there is a George Castle in the 1871 census in Canterbury, a widower who I think is probably the one she married. In the 1861 census he can be found, unmarried. (Another George Castle married in Canterbury in 1864; he can be ruled out as the widower in 1871 as he is with his wife in that census). A George who married Mary Ann in Bridge RD in 1854 can be ruled out as the widower as he seems to be with his wife in Wickhambreux in 1871. Another George married in Bridge in 1857, to Susannah Jordan; they are also together in 1871.
No other George Castles in Canterbury or as close as Bridge RD, though others in Blean RD - not all eliminated.

    • "Richard Rose of the Parish of Bishopsbourne and Elizabeth Adams of this Parish"
From PR image (on FMP) which shows 3 readings on 11 May 1800, 26 May 1800, 12 Jun 1800, though these dates may not be quite right. Banns were read on a Sunday, and although 11 May was a Sunday in 1800, 26 May was a Monday and 12 June a Thursday!
They were also supposed to be read for 3 consecutive weeks, and although in chapels which may only have had a service every 3 weeks they were sometimes read at 3 week intervals rather than weekly in the parish church as the law seemed to require, Bridge was a parish and would have been expected to have services every Sunday.
Married 21 Jun 1800  St. Peter’s Church, Bridge, Kent, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • Curiously, the banns were read in Bishopsbourne because Richard was of the parish, but the marriage register shows him as of Kingstone. Possibly abode and where he was born / came from had been confused - the latter shouldn't matter for banns and marriage registers.

Neither banns nor marriage register for Bridge show marital status for either Richard or Elizabeth.

The marriage was witnessed by another Richard Rose and a Sarah Rose - I guess these were the groom's father and sister.
