Bequest 1842 £30 - Bequest from her sister Susanna Efford (nee Issell)
The will of Betty's sister, Susanna Efford
Susanna left her sister Betty, probably her only surviving sibling, the largest specified amount, £30.
She also left the residue to be shared between the children of Betty and the children of her brother-in-law, William Efford.Died 11 Jun 1845 (probably), Stokenham, Devon, England - Still alive when her sister Susanna Efford (nee Issell) wrote her will on 28 Jul 1836.
Buried 15 Jun 1845 St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, Stokenham, Devon, England [2] Siblings 1 brother and 2 sisters Patriarch & Matriarch John ISSELL, b. Est 1600, d. Aug 1638, Stokenham, Devon, England (Age ~ 38 years) (3 x Great Grandfather)
Susanna, d. Yes, date unknown (Great Grandmother)Notes - (Research):The will of Betty's sister Susanna refers to her "sister Betty Stone" so it would seem to be this Betty who married William Stone and not the a Betsy who was also baptised in Stokenham, in 1765.
Baptism, marriage and her sister Susanna's will all refer to her as Betty, so was she the 'Elizabeth' who, with a William Stone, had children baptised, 1785 or 1787 to 1808?
The first, 1785, baptism shows the mother's name as Ebbet - I guess could be an abbreviation of Elizabeth, or, since it is before the marriage date I have maybe a different couple?
All the baptisms shown for an Elizabeth and William are from shortly after the marriage of Betty. The last showing the mother's name as Elizabeth was 1806, then in 1808 there was a baptism for the child of a William and Betsey. I guess this was the same couple. All the baptisms are at intervals which suggest they are all the children of one couple.
There was another marriage of a Wm to an Eliabeth in 1783 (notes in the PR not yet seen) - could the children be theirs and not this Wm and Betty?
1. A gravestone at Stokenham has the names William, died in 1809, aged 64 and Elizabeth, died 1845, aged 80. Although this is also Elizabeth not Betty the age fits perfectly with being the Betty baptised in 1765.
2. The names of the children do suggest that Betty may have been naming her daughters after herself and her sisters. (But I do not know what were names used in the families of the other William or his wife)
I thought it might be significant that in the 1841 census the entry for Elizabeth Stone and a William Stone, possibly her son, came immediately after that of John Issell, who, assuming I am right to identify Elizabeth with Betty Issell, would be Betty's nephew. However, there is a 'place' of Widdicombe shown for Elizabeth and William Stone, but not for the Issell family, so I think this was chance.

SouthHams website has quite a few baptisms of children of "William and Elizabeth Stone" from 1787 to 1808, all in Stokenham, which I think were probably the children of this William and Betty.
There was also the bapt of a Wm Stone in 1785, son of Wm and Ebbet. I wondered if Ebbet was an abbreviation of Elizabeth, but the marriages register shows a Wm Stone married an Ebbet, also in 1785.
Also, in 1783 a Wm Stone married an Elizabeth Norris in Stokenham. It's possible some, or even all, of the children are theirs, but from Betty's sister Susanna's will I do know Betty and William had children.
