Name Willmot EWEN Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1663 Stokenham, Devon, England - (assumed from baptism)
Baptised 17 Nov 1663 St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, Stokenham, Devon, England [1] Gender Female Died Abt Apr 1715 Charleton, Devon, England - (assumed from burial)
Buried 7 Apr 1715 St. Mary’s Church, Charleton, Devon, England [2] Siblings 1 brother and 2 sisters Patriarch & Matriarch John EWEN, b. Est 1628, d. Yes, date unknown (Father)Notes - (Research):Quite a few events with surname Ewen / Ewn in Stokenham at end of C17th / early C18th (possibly over wider time - just happened to notice these). Also spotted some in South Pool. Not a common name in Charleton, I noticed a number of marriages from 1676 but not before. In a Ewen baptism there in 1667 the family were described as 'of Sherford'.
It looks like it will be worth searching these neighbouring Parishes for the baptism of Willmot.
The Devon wills project shows that Ewen(s) was a surname particularly common a bit further afield in Bishops Teignton and Teignmouth, also in Dartington and Chudleigh. Nearer to Charleton there were quite a number in Malborough.
Of possible significance, a grant of administration was given in 1663 for the estate of one Wilmot EWENS of Stokenham.

Father John EWEN, b. Est 1628, d. Yes, date unknown Married - The 'children' shown here may actually be the children of more than one John.
Willmot was shown as the daughter of John 'of hockhamb(?)', and William and Jane as of John the younger.
A Sudwell was baptised in June 1663 (a date too close for her to be Willmot's sister, assuming baptism will have been soon after birth as was the norm); she was shown as the daughter of John Ewne alias Huper.

In 1663 entries: "[November 17] Wilmett the dafter of John Ewen de hockhamb"
I am unsure of the spelling of the placename. The priest wrote some of his lower case 'h's 'above the line' and similar to his captial 'L'. The last letter also unclear to me. The rest is reasonably clear.
Most entries in the register at this time did not give abode - I think this was to distinguish him from another John Ewen. - [S210] Charleton - St. Mary’s Church - m/f images, St. Mary’s Church (Charleton, Devon), Burial of Wilmot BLANK 1715; DE/REG/57867/1-8 m/f 3 (Reliability: 3).
