    • (Research):The evidence pointing to Richard being the son of Katherine as well as John (burial register entry), and the date of this Richard's burial point to him not being "Richard of Chislet" who had a lease on Salter's Platt in Chartham after a John, probably this Richard's father. I now think the Richard involved must have been the uncle of this Richard.

    The 1614 Lease of Salter's Platt to Richard Goatham
    A transcription of the indenture for this lease, of land and barn in the parish of Chartham, between a Richard Goatham and the Dean and Chapter of Canterbury Cathedral.

    The Richard Goatham is described as "Richard Gotham of Chislett ... husbandman" who leased the land in 1614 was clearly this one - i.e. the one who married Catherine Rides and had the children shown here.
