Johanna BECON
Set As Default Person -
Name Johanna BECON Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 1 Mar 1744/45 St. Mary’s Church, Lenham, Kent, England
Gender Female Buried 19 Mar 1823 St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church, Headcorn, Kent, England
- From KFHS CD 19 - BUTLER, Joanna, aged 79, abode Headcorn
With the age being right and at least one of Johanna's daus living in Headcorn I belive the burial is this Johanna (although there is no burial of her husband William in Headcorn in the KFHS data)
Siblings4 brothers and 1 sister Patriarch & Matriarch
Thomas BECON, b. Abt 1480, d. Yes, date unknown (5 x Great Grandfather)
Anna WILLAMENA, d. Yes, date unknown (Grandmother)
Notes - (Research):It's clear that the family left Egerton at some point; neither William nor Johanna appear to have been buried there (burials on KFHS CD 33 go up to 1947), and only 2 Butler events in the PRs in the whole C19th.
Where did they go? and when? - could just have had more children after 1788 but Johanna well into 40s so probably didn't.

Banns of marriage 3 Sep 1775 St. Mary’s Church, Lenham, Kent, England
- Date given is 1st reading, other probably 10 and 17 Sep.
(Source: KFHS transcript, CD 16)
Married 29 Sep 1775 St. Mary’s Church, Lenham, Kent, England
- Marr by banns, Wm of Egerton made his mark, Joanna otp spinster - I assume signed, no mark shown in index.
Witnesses were Basil Hunt and Boswell Beacon - acc to KFHS transcript (CD 16).
I'm sure "Boswell" refters to one of the Basil/Bowell Be(a)cons - probably Joanna's brother, since there seems to have generally been a preference for young witnesses of a similar age to those getting married, though it could have been her father. Basil Hunt was probably her 1st cousin of this name (son of Richard and her aunt Isabella Hunt nee Becon)
