Eleven infants were born and died in Wandsworth Reg District between 1891 and 1911, but only two had the mother's maiden of Simons; no evidence of the other two. Albert and Ethel were both resident at 31 Mantua St when they married, being bachelor and spinster. Ethel had been living at the address with her family (i.e. her mother and siblings) in 1911; the house was then (as it was in 1939) occupied by two households. In 1911 the other part was the home of a painter's labourer Harry Murfin and his family. As he was described as a painter at marriage, it may well be that Albert was lodging or boarding with the Murfins; the same address does not necessarily imply that they were living together before marriage.
Witnesses were Charles Henry Horton and Gladys Marie Barnwell
