Name Cicely WOOF Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1821 Cardington, Shropshire, England - Date and place assumed from baptism. The baptism register shows the family's abode was Cardington. The 1851 census only shows 'Shropshire' for the place of birth.
Although the date of birth makes her about 5 years younger than suggested by her death and burial records, I think she had done what was not that uncommon and 'adjusted' her age.
She is the only Cicely Woof I can find who could have been Thomas's wife. Given he lived in Deal I am sure she must be the Cicely Woof in Dover in 1851. The census that year shows her age as 25, consistent with the death records for her, but not only can I only find the one possible baptism (which could be explained by her being baptised in a church whose records are not online) but I can only find one possible 1841 census entry. In that she is with her [assumed] mother (also called Cicely), near Kidderminster. Although both are shown as born in Worcestershire (i.e. 'Y'[es] to 'Whether born in County') this may have been a mistake by the ennumerator or head of house; her mother was also shown to have been born in Shropshire in subsequent censuses.
There seems to be no evidence of the younger Cicely in the Kidderminster area after the 1841 census, i.e. no marriage, death / burial or other census entry.
The fact that what seems to be the only possible census entry for this Cicely (subsequently Thomas' wife) in 1841 shows her with an older Cicely means I am as sure as I can be the baptism is hers, despite the age discrepancy.
