Court 19 Jun 1925 The Borough Bench, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England In arrears with maintenance for son - In a report of the Tunbridge Wells Borough Bench, 'on Friday' (presumably the previous Friday, 12 Jun) before Mr. E. R. Beecroft (in the chair) and Alderman H. Elwig:
"AFFILIATION ARREARS
John Gotham, alias Gocher, was charged (on warrant) with being in arrears under an Affiliation Order to the amount of £2 15s. and 2s. costs, due to Florence Ellen Wiles, formerly Allcorn.
Mr. H. G. Rogers stated that an Order was made in July, 1922, for defendant to pay 5s. per week, and a nuniher of warrants had been issued. He thought Gotham had been In difficulty about the payments. He earned 30s. per week.
Gotham said he was working in a market garden at Hove and was willing to pay 3s. per week off the arrears.
The case was adjourned for one month."

Also known as John GOCHER Died Yes, date unknown Notes - (Research):A John GOTHAM was named as father of Florence's child and assigned maintenance in 1922, according to newspaper articles. When charged with being in arrears with the maintenance in 1925 one article names him as 'John Gotham alias Gocher'. In 1925 it is said that he was having difficulties paying because he was now married with two children.
But who was he?
I can find no John GO(A)THAM or GO*CHER to fit well.
The early death of Leslie means it may be harder if not impossible to find out who John Gotham or Gocher was; there can have been no later contact between them, no bequest in a will.
