First I bequethe and Recomende my soule unto almighti god my make and Redemer to his blessid mother saynt marie the virgyn and to all the holie company of heven my bodie to be buried within the parishe churche or chaunsell of Netilcombe. Also I bequethe unto the Cathedral churche of Wellis vi s viii d. Itm I bequethe into the store of the brotherhod of our ladie of Netilcombe vi s viii d Itm I bequethe unto the light before the high crosse there ii s Itm I bequethe unto the light before seynt George xx d. Itm to every of the lightes of seynt Erasmus, seynt Anthony, and all soulen light xii d Itm I bequethe for the mayntenaunce of the light before saynt John the baptiste iii s iiii d. Itm I bequethe unto the parson of the same churche of Netilcombe for my tythis and oblacions by me neclyygentlie forgoton or witholden in discharging of my soule x s Itm I will that myne executours shall immediatlie after my decease make and cause to be made a chapell of our ladie and seynt George in the northe partie of the chaunsell of Netilcombe in lengh of the saide chaunsell and in bredethe of xi or xii foote, after the caste and proporcion as is conteyned in a bill for making of the same signed with myn hande And whereas I the said John Trevilian have ordeyned in my will made upon my [p.2] lands for two hundrethe poundis in x yere to be taken of and in my maner of Walesbrughe to paie all my detti which can be duelie proved that I owe for my self or for any other parsone and to parforme this my laste will and legacies I will that all suche money as shall be therof lefts and this my will parformed to be bestowed in ornamentis for the said chapell and to an honest preste to singe and praie in the saide chapell for the soulis of me my father and mother and all other myne Aun[n]settres and frends bothe quyck and dede Also I bequethe unto Jane my wif a cuppe covered called the myghell An other cuppe covered parcell gilt ii gilt saltes with one cover A dosen of silver sponys to have unto hir owne use Also I bequethe unto my saide wife one hundred of shepe iiii kyne three horsis or geldinges and an Amelyng mare Also I bequethe unto my saide wif three fetherbedis three matrases with ther bolsters and to every bed a coverlet a pair of blanketes and ii pair of shetis Also I bequethe unto my saide Wif the thirde part of all the stuf of my kechyn. Also I bequethe to Thomas Trevilian my sonne a cuppe of silver hole gilt with a cover with a horse upon the cover an other cuppe uncoverid parcell gilt Also I bequethe unto the said Thomas ii fetherbeddes wt ther bolsters and to every bed a coverlet a pair of blankettis and ii pair of shetis Also I bequethe unto the said Thomas viii Oxen xii kyne one hundred of shepe vi grete maris of Rowdon and vi maris owte of cornewall Also I bequethe unto Elisabeth Cavell lx s. Also I bequethe unto every of the churches of seynt Borian [2] seynt Peryn in Uthenoo [3] saynt Mawgon [4], saynt Mawnon [5] and saynt Marwyn [6] in Cornwale to every of them a banner of sent George The Residue of all my goodis not given and bequethid I give and bequethe to my sonne and heire John Trevilian to dispose parte therof at his pleasure for the welthe of my soule which John Trevilian John Cavell and Conande Englisshe I ordeyne and make myne executours. And I will and ordeyne that the saide John Cavell and Conaunde Englisshe every of them to have for his labour [blank space] Also I ordeyne and make M[aste]r George Trevilian Thomas Trevilian my sonne Masister Will[ia]m Cavell parson of Netilcombe and Jamys Clerke of this my present testament and will to be overseers to see and ause the same in every thing to be parformed by thies witnessis folowing Sir John Cres chaplay[n] Richard Baker and many other/ Proved at Lambeth, September 18th, 1522. Footnotes [1] I am assuming that Weaver has left the date as OS. Source Transcription from Weaver (Somerset Medieval Wills, Second Series). Although shown as proved at Lambeth, indicating a will proved in the PCC (as would be expected as John had property in more than one diocese, in the southern province), this will does not seem to be indexed on Discovery. I guess it may have deteriorated or been lost between Weaver's day and now.
