Family 1 HENGESTON, d. Yes, date unknown Married - Elizabeth's husband Nicholas FORTESCU left a bequest to his son-in-law 'John Hengstecott'. By that time the gentry Hengescott family were close to dying out, and were to be found in Bradford in Devon. An Elizabeth Fortescue connected to the Hengescott family was buried there in 1563. In addition a John was buried there in 1572. I think that by 'son-in-law' Nicholas meant what we would call step-son, that Elizabeth had been married before and that she moved to Bradford as a widow as it was where her son lived.
