  • Name George Evans CHARRISON
    Relationshipwith Teresa Ann GOATHAM
    Born Abt 1822
    • His father named as 'Evins' when he married. It seems likely he was born away from Kent, when his father was in the militia, as there is a 5 year gap between other children born then. Possibly born in Peterborough like his sister Catherine, or Ireland like his brother Edward. (I have not yet looked for a baptism in Ireland, nor managed to find him in the 1851 census - or any later).

    • From PR entry (image on Ancestry, viewed 20 Apr 2021)
"No. [blank] Evans Cherison of the Parish of Yaxley
and Ann Moseley of this Parish were
Married in this Church by Banns
this third Day of April in the Year One Thousand eight Hundred
and six By me W. Loftus A M Curate
This Marriage was solemnized between Us Mark of Evans + Cherison, Ann Mosley +
in the Presence of Robt Loving, James Gibbs"

For the bapt of Evans' children Elizabeth and Evans his wife is named as Ann; for the later baptisms of Henry and Mary Ann she is named as Mary Ann, but had also been for the earlier baptism of daughter Catherine. before then she was just recorded as Ann when she married. The inconsistent use of the two names suggests one person, not two.

In 1841 Evans 2 sons (the two shown here) were living with an Edward and Charlotte Charrosin; was Edward another son of Evans and Mary Ann? They had a son called Henry, born about 1835. With them at the time of the 1851 census, he was not with his parents in 1841 but there was a 6 year old Henry with Evans and his wife.
Although the spelling of the surname is very variable, putting a few variants in and using wildcards I am able to find most 'Charrosin' family events and census entries in the C19th. The fact that Edward's birthplace is shown as Dublin in the 1851 census is probably significant. When daughter Catherine was baptised Evans was shown as being in the East Kent Militia, as he almost certainly had been when he married. Presumably he was still in the Militia, but now serving in Ireland, when Edward was born.
