Shows Fanny Louisa PEACHEY, daughter of Thomas and Jane Louisa, father a Farmer (both the PR and BT have the mother's forenames as Jane Eliza but a note in the PR states that the name should have been Jane Louisa)
Gender Female Education 1871 Scholar - The family had a Governess boarding with them, who was presumably teaching the children. With even the one year old Edith shown as a scholar(!) perhaps she had some responsibility for all of the children, although a nursemaid was also employed.
Residence From 1881 to 1891 Park Farm, West Itchenor, Sussex, England
- No occupation shown, she was probably helping her mother with domestic duties, and possibly with what was traditionally women't work on farms - dairy and poultry, etc. Her younger sisters were all at school.
By 1891 her mother had died and Fanny was presumably responsible for the household duties; of the two sisters at home on census night one was working as a governess, the other (bertha) may have been helping her.
Residence 1901 Keepers Corner, Burstow, Surrey, England
- With her father and his brother Richard, presumably keeping house for them.
Residence From 1911 to 1945 The Firs, 7, Roman Crescent, Southwick, Sussex, England
- Fanny was the keeper of a boarding house at 7 Roman Crescent at the time of the 1911 census, and it is where she was living and died in 1945. By the time of the 1939 register Fanny appears to have no longer been running a boarding house (not surprising, given she was aged 81), but had two of her spinster sisters living with her.
