Milton was a rare surname in Chudleigh apart form the marriage of Elizabeth Gotham to James Milton and John and his issue descending from them, but there was another marriage of a John Milton in the parish in 1735 (no parish recorded for bride or groom). They had no children baptised in the parish church so may well have moved away.

  Notes	It is interesting to note that despite his baptism and his mother's burial noting the family as 'of Kenn' that John married in Chudleigh, where his mother was originally from, with nothing to suggest he was from another parish. It would seem likely that after his mother's death when he was just a year old he lived with maternal relations in Chudleigh.
