  	They appear together in the 1930 census, Thomas as head of the household and Mary as wife but was this an error? Mary was 21 years old than Thomas, obviously unusual. Thomas is shown as aged 48 when he was actually 58. If Mary was also shown as 10 years younger than she was she would fit quite well as his mother. The age, forename, age at first marriage, place of birth of herself and her parents would all be right. However, Thomas' mother was recorded with his sister Emily, and had remarried after their father's death and so her surname should have been Wood.
