GRO ref: Dutton, Florence q3 1902 Leek RD 6b 346; GRO online index shows mother's maiden name as Tomkinson
No other birth registration of a Florence Dutton in Staffordshire to fit with 1939 register, and whilst the latter can be a few years out the 1921 census entry for the Florence ("Florrie") shows her as aged 18 years and 10 months, fitting a mid July - mid August birth. The 1921 census although showing she still lived with her family in Smallthorne also shows she was working in Burslem, where Leonard lived. Although both worked in the pottery industry, they were working for different companies, and Leonard worked in Tunstall. Even so, they lived and worked close enough to see how they could have met and married.

Family Leonard MOUNTFORD, b. 5 Nov 1899, Burslem, Staffordshire, England , d. Aft 1939 (Age 40 years) Married Sep Q 1924 Stoke on Trent Reg Dist, Staffordshire, England - Although there were other Leonard Mountfords in the area of a similar age, only one was born in 1899, so assuming date in the 1939 register is correct that shows that it was this Leonard who married Florence Dutton.
