In another marriage the same quarter the groom is indexed as both Jack KLAW and Jacob KLAWANSKY. Although Albert is only recorded with the one version of his surname, he was recorded first as Albert KLAW in the 1939 register, made shortly before his marrage, although the name KLAWANSKY was added afterwards.
The family seem to have settled on the shortened KLAW after the marriage as both children were recorded only as KLAWs when their births were registered, and Albert and Gladys were recorded only by the name KLAW when they died.
