Location from local (Staffs) BMDThe 1911 census shows that by then Alfred and Mary had had 12 children, 8 of whom were still living. However, only 8 children are found in any of the censuses with them, including their first Alfred, who died before the second was born. It seems probable that only 7 were living and 5 had died. I have found deaths to fit the 4 not in censuses and the first Alfred, but with a common surname like Brown one could apply to someone else and one of the children have lived with other family members, hence their absence from the family census entries.
