  Notes	(Research):I thought if I got Frank's birth certificate and found out who his parents were I would be able to see where he fitted into a Gotham family (assuming, from his middle name, that he did). However, it is not enough. Making it more difficult is the fact that his father appears to have been illegitimate. At least, the only birth registration consistent with his dob as given in the 1939 register suggests he was. With no marriage to look for it's harder to find out who his parents were. It should be possible to find him in the censuses (both 1901 and 1911) but so far I haven't. Maybe his mother had (re-)married by 1911 and he is recorded with a step-father's name. I am pretty sure he must be linked to the 'Lancashire' Gotham group, descended from Irish Mary 'GOOHAN', probably linked to Mary's daughter Emma who married one Butterworth GREGORY. Not only is there this link to the surname Gregory, but Frank was born in the same 'buildings' as Emma's brother Richard Ratcliffe was living in in 1911.
