"141. Abigail, the Daughter of John and Jane stringer was born the 31st of janry. 1700/1 And baptiz'd the 29th of Feb. following/"
There was no Leap day in 1700/01 yet the year seems clear. It looks like a copy of an older register, I wonder if the year had become confused then. However, that would make the birth only 10 months after their previous child, unlikely even if the previous had died soon after birth. It may be that a whole section of the reigster is a year out, or (more likely?) the date was wrong - maybe 1 March.

Other Partners: Henry GOFFE m. Jun 1686; John SLADDEN m. 30 Oct 1692Married 1696 - Marriage date assumed from licence. Marriage not found but appears to have occurred as children seem to have followed. Although the baptism of the first few was in a non-conformist church, only marriages in the Church of England was valid at this time so I don't think that explains the marriage not being found.
One of the 3 possible churches was Knowlton - PRs only survive from 1711, and although there are BTs, and transcriptons by the KFHS there is a gap in marriages between 1663 and 1786. Another possible location was Betteshanger. I have browsed the PR images on FMP and the marriage appears not to be recorded there but the registers are quite messy and it is possible some entries are missing. Long gaps between marriages may indicate this - or just that few took place in the parish. I have browsed the PRs for Sandwich St Clement's and they are neat and appear well kept but there is not sign of the marriage there. It semms probable it was at Knowlton, possibly at Betteshanger.
Children
From age on marriage licence when she first married Jane would appear to be too old for the children baptised in 1710 and 1711. This could indicate they were children of a different John and Jane Stringer, two marriages had taken place in East Kent in the 1680s of John Stringers to Janes, but neither close to Sandwich and it seems very unlikely either were the parents (so unlikley I have not followed up those couples).
More likely is that Jane's age is wrong in the marrige licence index for her first marriage - or at least in Cowper's transcription of it.
Another possibility is clearly that John Stinger had married Jane, the widow of a different Sladden. However, the description of her as 'of Deal' would make this very unlikely; there appears to have been no other Sladden family in Deal at the time.
