      GRO ref: ASTBURY, George Edwin q1 1865 Shiffnal RD 6A 594; GRO online index does not show a mother's maiden name, suggesting he was illegitimate

      Not only is the above the only birth registration of a George Edwin with any surname in Shifnal RD around the right time, but the 2 marriage PR entries I've seen both show his father as William Dulston [sic], an engineer, though a Henry Astbury was a witness to one.
      It appears that George's mother and father or step-father married shortly after his birth.
