Died - Probably before 1711 as not mentioned in his mother's will.
Buried 26 Aug 1694 St. Leonard’s Church, Deal, Kent, England - PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 15 Jan 2020) shows:
"Jno Sladden bu _ Do [Aug:st] 26"There is no sign of a burial for John's father, Richard, although Richard's probate inventory was just 9 days after this burial. So was it John or his father with an error in the Christian name? As it appears that John's wife was a widow by 1696/7, when she seems to have remarried, and there is no other sign of a burial of a John, I think it probably was John's burial. Perhaps both John and Richard died at sea. Since both were mariners an accident could explain the lack of an entry for Richard, as it could be that John's body was recovered but Richard's wasn't.
A sudden death at sea could explain why he seems to have left no will.

Yes, date unknown (Age ~ 84 years) Married - The marriage of Richard and Cicely probably took place during the interregnum, and any record of it probably among the many lost from that period. There may also have been one or more other childrens whose baptisms are also lost, but since their son Richard and his descendants are the only beneficiaries of Cicely's will it seems probable if there were any neither they nor any children they may have had survived Cicely.
It is interesting to note that both Richard's and Cicely's mothers married with the same name: Mary ADAMS.
