  	** Was Mary the daughter of George and Ann? ** Her birth, based on age at death shown in the burial register, would fit into an otherwise unusually large gap in the children of George and Ann. In additions, not only were not many Cottam families in Shrewsbury at this time, but Mary's address is the same as that in the events for a number of George and Ann's children, including the burial of a son just 18 days earlier ('Castle Foregate' - which prpbably included a the homes of a number of families, so it can't be assumed there were no other Cottams there) For a birth in about 1847 there should be a birth registration, and so using the GRO online or local BMD index to see if the mother's maiden name was Hollis should clarify the matter, but I have not identified any possible birth registration for Mary.
