    Cause: Debility and Old Age 
    • With her son in Lambeth at the time of the 1871 census (2/3 April 1871) - but did she die later that year? Her husband had been living with (and had children by) another for some years, but they married in the last quarter of 1871. Did they do so because Charlotte had died and so Nicholas was free to marry?
      It seems not, a Charlotte Tarr aged 54, 'widow', with Nicholas S Tarr, 22 and Margaret Tarr, 18, spinster emigrated to Canada in 1871. Perhaps Charlotte's husband Nicholas knew this and felt her leaving the country made him able to re-marry.
