Shown as born, like his brothers, in Llanhilleth in the 1881 census, but Llanhilleth was in Pontypool RD. Crumlin, shown as his birthplace in the 1911 census was in Newport M RD, so seems more likely to be correct.
Although Thomas is of course a fairly common surname, the unusual combination of Christian names, and even of first name and middle initial, allow the birth and death of Oliver to be easily identified.

I have not yet done any research to try to work out who Oliver's parents were, although I have spotted Oliver's grandparents in the 1861 census which confirms they did have a son Samuel, then aged 12, so could well have married in 1873
