Radcliffe was in Bury RD in 1862 (and until 1934); there were a number of James Yates born in that district in or close to 1862.

Died Bef 1926 - James probably died before this wife remarried in 1926, but it is not clear when. Yates is a common name in Lancashire, and between the time of the 1911 census (when James was clearly alive) and 1926 a number of James died in Bury Reg Dist (in which he had been living in 1911), but not of an age close to that of James. There were also a number of other James Yates who died elsewhere in Lancashire, as well as a few in other parts of the country, who were close in age to James; one of these may well be him.
