Although recorded in the index as Francis M Hook, there is not sign of such a person who could have married Maude. There is Francis Urban HOOK, and the 'U' for his middle name in the 1939 reigster could be read as an M. Although Francis Urban HOOK had married in 1929, his wife remarried in 1955, suggesting he may well have been free to remarry in 1947, especially as he and his wife do not seem to have been together as a couple in 1939.
