Also with William and Anstes and their 3 sons at the time of the 1841 census was a Richard Rennells, aged 27, sailor.
He was listed after their sons, though, which often indicates a more distant relationship, but in this case I think it was their son, since he matched the baptism; it could simply be that they did not expect him to be at home or census night so added him later.

With a name like Rennels which could be spelt many ways it is hard to be sure there were no children of the marriage, but the GRO online index has no children born with the surnames Rennels (plus phonetic variants) and mother's maiden name Gotham (exact) or Goatham (exact), 1844-1853 (searched 1 Jan 2017)

Family 2 Letitia JONES, b. Abt 1826, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, Wales , d. Jun Q 1867, Newport M Reg Dist, Monmouthshire or Glamorgan, Wales (Age ~ 41 years) Married Between 1851 and 1861 - The mother's maiden name is consistently given as Jones in the birth registrations, suggesting they were all the children of Letitia, not Mary Gotham.
If William and Letitia married, they probably did so by about 1853.
Was the William Rennels who married (or lived as the husband of Letitia) the one who had married Mary Gotham?
A 44 year old carpenter William Rennels, born Paignton, is in the 1861 census as the husband of a Welsh woman, Letitia.
I think the match of age, occupation and birthplace is too much to be a co-incidence - and I have found no sign of another William Rennels born in Paignton c. 1816 (OK, this William was baptised in Dartmouth and shown in the 1851 census as born there, but all his brothers were born / baptised Paignton and it seems reasonable to suppose he grew up there and could easily have been mis-recorded as born there ).
There is also no sign of William being with Mary in 1861 so I think she had probably died (or they had separated - I have not found a marriage to Letitia - so were they really married?)
As well as the three children with William and Letitia in the 1861 census, I think two other Rennells children, who died in infancy, were theirs, as shown here. Rennels was not a common name in Wales, but of couse Jones was extremely common so it is not impossible that they were offspring of another couple.
