Name Gertrude Elizabeth GOTHAM Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born 19 Feb 1878 Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, England
- From the 1891 census where shown as aged 13
GRO ref: Gothan, Gertrude Elizabeth q1 1878 Stoke T. RD 6b 247; GRO online index shows mother's maiden name as Wetton
The 1939 registration gives her date of birth as 19 Feb 1884 - it looks as though she had not been honest with her husband about her age, no doubt to reduce the difference in age between them from 9 to 3 years (or he may have known but not wanted others to know).
The 1939 reg dob, her baptism and the spelling GOTHAN (used more in this family than in others) shows this Gertrude was the one whose birth was registered q1 1878, not the one reg q4 1877.
Baptised 14 Mar 1878 St. Peter Ad Vincula Church, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, England - From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 7 Oct 2015)
Gender Female Residence 1939 Shardlow Reg Dist, Derbyshire Leicestershire or Nottinghamshire, England - At the time of the 1939 registration Gertrude and her husband Harry had Gertrude's mother and sister Agnes living with them
Probate 8 Mar 1962 Nottingham Reg Dist, Nottinghamshire, England Calendar entry - "Richardson Gertrude Elizabeth of 54 Chellaston Road Allenton Derbyshire widow died 8 March 1962 at Derbyshire Royal Infirmary Derby Probate Nottingham 12 April to Frank Whitaker Barnett solicitor and John Arnold Nightingale chemist.
Effects £3809 13s. 10d."
Died 8 Mar 1962 Shardlow Reg Dist, Derbyshire Leicestershire or Nottinghamshire, England - Alive on 11 Mar 1955 as appointed administrator of her sister Agnes's estate then
She probably died in Shardlow Red District, and the only death registration to match either a dob in 1884 or 1878 is the following (from which it appears her age at death was given accurately)
GRO ref: RICHARDSON, Gertrude E q1 1962 aged 83 Shardlow RD 3a 557
