Anne BOARDMORE
Set As Default Person -
Name Anne BOARDMORE Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1817 Brown Edge, Staffordshire, England
- Date from the 1851 and 1861 censuses where shown as aged 33 and 43
Place from the 1861 census.
Brown Edge was in the parish of Norton le Moors at the time Ann was born.
Gender Female Occupation 1841 Potter Died Jun Q 1885 Shelton sub-district, Stoke on Trent Reg Dist, Staffordshire, England
- Based on her age, on not finding her in censues after 1881 nor a marriage which appears to be hers and her abode in 1881 I think the following is probably this Ann:
GRO ref: Wooldridge, Ann q2 1885 aged 66 Stoke T. RD 6b 108
Local BMD (Staffs index for 1885): WOOLDRIDGE, Ann aged 66, sub-district: Shelton, registers at: Stoke-On-Trent, ref: SHE/48/094
n.b. this is the same quarter I think her husband Thoams died; I guess from the references that he died shortly after Anne.

Local BMD entry (from Staffs index for 1846) - indexed twice:
CARTLIDGE Ann WOOLDRIDGE Thomas Wolstanton, St Margaret Newcastle-Under-Lyme C30/4/46
and
GOTHAM Ann WOOLDRIDGE Thomas Wolstanton, St Margaret Newcastle-Under-Lyme C30/4/46
(since the copy of the marriage register entry would not be expected to be any different in the local reigster office, presumably the entry showing Ann as a CARTLIDGE is based on her father's name)
Although the PR entry gives Ann's father's name as Samuel CARTLIDGE, not BOAR(D)MAN I do think it was this Ann who married Thomas as there is a Thomas and Ann WOOLDRIDGE in the 1851 census with a 'son' Matthew, aged 13. Although shown as a WOOLDRIDGE, this Matthew is the right age to be the son of Charles and Ann GOTHAM. In addition there are no more children shown until one aged 4, i.e. soon after the marriage of Thomas WOOLDRIDGE and Ann GOTHAM.
There is no other sign of an Ann GOTHAM with a son Matthew in the 1851 census.
Unfortunately so far I have not found them in 1841 either, as this could give futher clues.
