He was shown as a joiner in the 1891 census; at the time this was taken he and his wife were visiting relations in Liverpool and I think was most likely a mistake by the ennumerator who was very unlikely to have known him.
Visiting 1891 2, Sheil Road, West Derby, Liverpool, Lancashire, England - In Liverpool at the time of the 1891 census, with William Follows and his wife Elizabeth. William and Elizabeth had married in 1865, with Elizabeth's surname then being Shaw, i.e. the same as that of Thomas's wife Ann, and like Ann she was born in Hanley, so I guess Elizabeth was a sister of Ann (I have not yet attempted to check this)

A William fitting the one born to John and Hannah was with Mary at the time of the 1841 census, as well as other children born before his marriage to Mary, so it seems fairly safe to assume he had previously been married to Hannah, and the other earlier children were theirs.
