Name Joseph HURRELL Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1792 Beer, Devon, England
- From the 1851 census where shown as born Beer, aged 58. He was also shown as formerly a baker, which fits the Joseph who married Patience Gotham, as he was shown as a baker when they married.
Gender Male Occupation 1824 Baker - Recorded at the time of his marriage. Also recorded ('Journeyman Baker') when his daughter Hannah died in 1851, but in the census a couple of months earlier he had been shown as 'Formerley Baker'.

Notes - (Research):I am not certain what became of Joseph - or where he came from, but I think he was the Joseph Hurrell to be found in Sidmouth at the time of the 1851 census . That Joseph appears to have died just before the next census in 1861. ** The dates and places shown here for Joseph are assuming he was that Joseph. **

Family Patience GOTHAM, b. 2 Jul 1793, bur. 7 Jun 1833, St. James’ Church, West Teignmouth, Devon, England
(Age ~ 39 years)
Other Partners: [ - ? - ]; John Angel RIDDELS m. 1815Married 1 Nov 1824 St. Thomas’s Church, Exeter, Devon, England
[1] - When Patience died shortly after having her last child, though after that baby had died, she left two children of her marriage to Joseph, aged 3 and 5, and two more born before she married, aged about 8 and 14. I don't know how long Joseph stayed in Teignmouth, but he was not there by the time of the 1841 census, about 8 years after Patience' death, and the care of her children seems to have fallen to her half-sister Mary Ann and sister Elizabeth Jane.
