Alexander GOTHAM
Set As Default Person -
Name Alexander GOTHAM Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 11 Mar 1631/32 St. Andrew’s Church, Stokeinteignhead, Devon, England
- From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 17 Nov 2014)
"Alexander filius of Barnabas Gotum baptized the xith day of March" - under heading 'Baptisms. 1631.'
Gender Male Name - When Alexander's father, Barnabas, was just about 2 his father died, and when he was 4 his mother remarried - to one Alexander Colcott. In naming a son 'Alexander' Barnabas would appear to be paying tribute to his step-father, who may well have been Alexander's Godfather.
(However, I have not researched the Colcott family and it is possible that Barnabas had a step-brother or half-brother Alexander, and that his son is named after him).

"Barnabas Gotum and Dorritie Toocker maried the xvith daye of Jannarye"
Son Alexander probably named after Barnabas's step-father who was probably the only father-figure he would have remembered, his father dying when he was just about 2, and his mother remarrying a couple of years later.
