Thomas GOTHAM
Set As Default Person -
Name Thomas GOTHAM Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Est 1600 (probably), Combeinteignhead, Devon, England
- Estimate based on date of the marriage licence for his marriage to Margaret Row. He was described as Thomas Gotham junior of Combeinteignhead; most likely Combeinteignhead was where he was born, but with PRs only surviving from 1658 / 1669 it may well not be possible to see where Thomas fits in with other Gothams. Combeinteignhead BTs date from 1602, so they may have the baptism of Thomas.
Gender Male Died Yes, date unknown Notes - (Research):I don't believe it is co-incidence that a wife of a Thomas was buried in Stokeinteignhead in March 1643/4 and a Thomas married there in June 1644; I'd be very surprised if the two events do not belong to the same Thomas.

Family 1 Margaret FORD, b. Est 1602, bur. 14 Mar 1643/44, St. Andrew’s Church, Stokeinteignhead, Devon, England
(Age ~ 42 years)
Other Partners: Richard ROW m. 17 Nov 1617Married Abt 1628 - Boyd's index shows a marriage licence was issued in 1628 for the marriage of a Thomas Gotham to Margaret Row; I guess that was for the marriage of this Thomas and Margaret.
Thomas may have been the same Thomas of Combeinteignhead who married in Bishopsteignton in 1626, but who was widowed a couple of months before this marriage to Margaret.
Although the baptism of that Thomas's son and the burial of his wife were in Bishopsteignton he may have returned to family in Combeinteignhead, especially having a young baby needing to be cared for.
The description of 'junior' when he married Margaret was probably relative to one or both of two Thomases who were recorded as 'Masters or mariners' in Combeinteignhead, aged 50 and 51, in a survey of mariners in 1619 (i.e. who would have been born about 1567 or 8 and 1568 or 9).
This Thomas may well be the son of one of those mariners.
