Father GOTTAM, b. Est 1628, d. Yes, date unknown Married - ** n.b. I am only guessing that the 2 children of this 'Gottam' were siblings. Since Parish register entries for most Shropshire parishes are on the FamilySearch website, and there are few Gottams (including spelling variations), it is clear this was not a common surname, and given the 2 children all married in a 12 year period 1687-1699 and both in the rural parish of Stoke upon Tern, it seems probably they were closely related. FamilySearch shows another marriage around this time (1698) in Market Drayton, less than 6 miles away, of a Catherine Gottam. However, the PR shows her surname as Cottam. I will endeavour to see the BTs (cited by FamiySearch) for myself but for the moment have removed Catherine from this website as I suspect she was not a Gottam.
