John WREFORD
Set As Default Person -
Name John WREFORD Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Est 1739 - Based on date of baptism of his wife
Gender Male Buried 20 Feb 1795 St. Mary’s Church, Morchard Bishop, Devon, England
- * Probably * the burial of this John. Assuming he was buried in Morchard Bishop there are only two possible, the other buried in 1822 with his age given as 78. If the latter he would have only been aged 20 at marriage, unusually young, and the lack of a comment 'wife of John' when Thomasin was buried suggests she was then a widow.

"John Wreford and Thomazin Gotham Both of this
Parish were
Married in this Church by Banns
this third Day of January in the Year One Thousand seven Hundred
and sixty four by me Peter Tucker [Curate]
This Marriage was John Wreford
solemnized between Us Thomazin Gotham
In the John Page
Presence of Wm Steer"(n.b. while it could have been another Thamzin, 1st cousin to this one, who married John Wreford it seems unlikely for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, a Thomazin GOTHAM was buried in Morchard Bishop in 1798, with her age given as 63 in the burial register. This Thamisin and her cousin would seem to be the only possibilities to be the one buried in 1798. This would fit the other Thomasin well, as she was baptised in 1735, but be c. 6 years out for this one.
Secondly, a witness at the marriage was one John PAGE. This Thamisin had a brother-in-law with this name. Whilst he could have been a witness as a "cousin-in-law", it is far more likely he performed this act as a brother-in-law).
