with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Est 1495 - Based on the estimate of the date of birth of his possible son Lawrence. If Lawrence was not a son but some other relation, e.g. a brother or cousin, then Leonard may have been younger. With a daughter buried in 1539 he is unlikely to have been born after 1515.

Occupation Between 1550 and 1552 In service to Henry Peckham - as a tyler? - The answer in the Court of Requests case refers to Leonard as being "in s[er]vice and lyverie of the saide [Henry] Peckham" when he (it is said) persuaded John Wotton to sell the timber rights of some land to him. The bill, dated 1564, dates Henry Peckham selling the rights to John Wotton as "about xii yeres laste paste". So the sale to Leonard would seem to have been no earlier than about 1552, and I guess took place soon after. It was almost certainly between 1550 and 1552 as Henry Peckham only seems to have acquired a Devon interest in 1550, when he exchanged Lavendon in Buckinghamshire with the King for the manor of Dartington along with some lands elsewhere in Devon. He conveyed Dartington Manor to John Aylworth in April 1552.
As (by 1564 at least) Leonard was not just a tyler working for himself or employed by a master tyler, but a tyler employing others, it seems likely that Leonard may have been employed to do tyling work that was needed to property belonging to the manor.

Occupation Between 1552 and 1564 'Other' - Many people at this time probably did more than one thing to earn a living. As well as being a tyler and in service to Henry Peckham (which may have been as a tyler) Leonard clearly intended to trade in timber, from the Court of Requests case that followed his death.
Whether he had done this sort of thing at an earlier date I don't know, but we can imagine he might.
Will Bef 1564 Written - No information about this is known to exist, other than that he had appointed his wife Alice as his executrix (from Court of Requests case)
Occupation Bef 1564 Tyler, layer of stones - Described as such by his wife in case in the Court of Requests. I suspect this referred to floor tiles or stones; stones seems more likely to refer to flooring, unless the term was used to refer to slate. (Stone roofs are found in parts of England, but whilst slate is found in Devon the stone used for roofs is not - see the maps in this article).
Also, roofers seem generally to have been called helliers in this area.
Died Bef 1564 - Leonard's widow was the plaintiff in a case in the Court of Requests; the reply is dated the sixth year of the reign of Queen Elizabeth, i.e. 1563-4.
I guess Leonard died about 1564; Alice's wife was probably addressing her duties as executrix soon after his death.
