Gender Male Bequest 1631 In his grandfather Augustine Murton's will - Austen was left his grandfather's house, land and orchard after his mother and his aunt Joan née Murton had both died.
However, there was a condition attached to this - that Austen would then pay out various amounts within a year of their decease:
£2 each to his aunt Joan's children: Austen, Hercules, William and Frances;
10 shillings to Marie the wife of Laurence Juce;
4 shillings each to his grandfather's 4 Godchildren (which seem to include himself)
- a total of £9 6s.
If he failed to pay any of these then the property was to go instead to Joan's 4 named children, but with them paying Austen £12.
Godfather Augustine Murton, his grandfather - His grandfather named 4 Godchildren in his will, all named Austen and including "Austen Car the elder & younger". I think this Austen must be Austen Carr the elder.
