Mary HILLES
Set As Default Person -
Name Mary HILLES Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 24 Jan 1705 St. Martin’s Church, Herne, Kent, England
- From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 7 Nov 2019)
"[blank] daughter of William Hilles _ Bapt. Jan: the 24th"
The paucity of Hilles events in Herne, and the burial of a Mary Hilles daughter of William less than 4 weeks after this baptism suggest that the name was Mary, especially as William had only married in 1703 and was unlikely to have had an older daughter.
(It is clearly not meant to be read as 'Mary' because the entry above was of a 'Mary', as there are a number of similar blanks on the page, including for sons following a Mary!)

- From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 10 Oct 2012):
Under heading "1703" - "William Hilles and Catharine Gotham both of this Parish. - Mar: March the 28th"
(Looks a bit like 20th but the way the 8 is written is found in dates such as Oct the 8th - which clearly isn't Oct the 0th! Significant because it makes nearly a year's difference to the date - and clearly 28th because it comes just after not before the year is entered as a heading)
