Alice SACKETT
Set As Default Person -
Name Alice SACKETT Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Est 1542 - Estimate from date of her first marriage and the dates of birth of her children. The latter suggest she must have been born between about 1538 and 1548. However, apart from amongst gentry upwards marriage at younger than 18 was very unusual at this time, with most women marrying in their 20s; Alice was probably born between 1540 (last child born when she was c. 47) -1545 (first marriage at age 18).
Gender Female Bequest 1604 In the will of her brother Richard - Richard, a yeoman of Minster, left his sister the tenement and lands at Totthill, Minster, then occupied by John Bright and George Wilbore, for her lifetime. They were then to revert to her sons Jeremy and Edward.
Residuary beneficiary 1607 In the will of her husband, George Wildbore - Jointly with her son Edward, Alice was made residuary legatee in her husband's will.
She was also named with him as executor, but must have declined to act as such since he alone was granted probate.

Alice was a widow when she married George Wildbore.
An Alice Sackett married Gilbert Pamflett in St Lawrence in Thanet in 1563 and it seems it was she who was widowed and subsequently married George Wildbore.

"julii 9. nupti erant Georgius wildbore et alicia pamplet vidua."
(When George married Alice she was shown as a widow, he was not recorded as a widower. However, looking at several pages of marriages in Minster around this time there were quite a number of brides recorded as widow, not one groom shown as widower. I think it inconceivable there were no widowers remarrying in the period checked; it seems the grooms marital status was not considered worth recording).
