It seems a little surprising that Augustine should marry a bride from Ash, about 15 miles from where he grew up. Did he work there before moving on to St. Lawrence? Although nearer to St. Lawrence, Ash is about 8 miles away so unless he did it still seems surprising they should meet / be introduced - unless there was a family link. Clemys was a rare name, althogh several were baptised or married in Ash in the late C16th. Besides Clemys FREIND these included Clemys HYLS, baptised in 1590. Was this a co-incidence, or were both girls given the name Clemys because they were related, and was Clemys HYLS also related to Augustine? (Her father was named George, no obvious link to Augustine but could have been a cousin or even an uncle).
